A Public Service Announcement (I)
Those of you who are writing with threats and words of intimidation, save your breath. There are scores of places where you may go and tell whatever lies, misinformation and half truths that you like. There are scores of places you can go to rant, rave and pick a fight. This is not that place. You are right that you are wasting your time doing any of those things. It is not surprising that once the truth got out about what is really going on at Gallaudet, you would flare. You are right on cue. We are not covering up for the FSSA any more.

You should know that you are certainly in a lot of good company. These so called FSSA people have been terrorizing and slandering students, other faculty and staff. It doesn't surprise me they would turn that on here. I thank you for this site because I am HERE and I SEE what is going on and you have said nothing that isn't true.
I was there in 88' this is far from what we experienced. I endorses Fernandez's appointment. She has been interviewed, screened, pinpointed, researched, CSi'ed and whatever. The board of directors, made up of mostly deaf people, selected her to be our next president. Please accept this appointment. Not only we got a woman, we got someone who is deaf, a latino, and has all the credentials to move us forward. I am proud of I. King Jordan's remarkable work he has done over the past couple of decades.....his legacy should never be tarnished by a few students who are looking for some front page publicity! Is is far from what equality was in 1988. The Week the World Heard Gallaudet U.

I worry that protesters mislead international students.
I just found this blog. I am glad it is here. The other side needs to be told. The majority has been silent too long. Those protesting do NOT represent all the Alumni, they do NOT represent all of the Deaf community. They are an embarrassment. Their "reasoning" is an embarrassment. And their tactics are reprehensible.

(BTW, Jane Fernandes is not a latina. She's just an Anglo who married a Fernandes.)
Correction, Fernandes is NOT a Latino, her husband is.
I can't believe our community is doing this. We are fighting each other in front of the world. It is awful that we are doing that but in addition to that we are not fighting fair. So this site is very much needed.
I think many of the people fighting against Fernandes are jealous of her skills. Crab theory at its best.
Many students are being mislead not just the international students.
This morning (5:30 am) there were only 10-15 students outside protesting.
Many of the students out there are just joining the crowd. And only know information they have been told. The lies they have been told.
This is not how a University should deal with issues. It looks like this is a daycare center instead of an institution of higher education.
The faculty should be ashamed of themselves.
Your site looks like it could be a useful counterpoint. However, please concentrate on giving facts and actual example stories.
So far, I am seeing only opinions.
